Got some negative but quite true comments regarding the last photo. Here's another one of the same technique. Work or not? I am not sure, but I don't care.

there u are eugene!!!!

re yer pix: i kinda like it

re the idiot comment on tarik harga: to the poster, u're a BLARDY idiot.

there, I dealt with professionals in their fields (accountants are the worst) who sez they cannot justify payin in upwards of RM1.5K fer pro photog fees and rather et a collee kid to do it fer far far less...

well, up yours ya cheapskates! Sheesh, anger makes me hungry

Cafe cagliostro

cafe cagliostro
Hmm..has it been so long since I last updated?

Anyway, here's a photo from Dublin. I absolutely love the mural on the wall next to this cafe. Haven't been to this cafe though. Anyway, since the mural is so unique, I decide to use a different photographic technique on it too.

Btw, I found this comment on one of my old post (shows how long I haven't check my fotopages). I find it rather humurous since it is definetly posted by someone who isn't into the photography world, either that or he is one really desperate jobless dude. Anyway, it reads:

$500 is not enough for 3 days work? you photographers so tarik harga one... i see you're a med student..wait later, then you find out what low pay really means.
and what do you mean losing reputation with other photographers? you shouldn't let peer pressure dictate what you do... especially when they're not the one who can offer you work.

To clarify, the work is offered by another photographer. It has nothing to do with peer pressure but more of maintaining profile. No doubt I do photography as a part time work, that doesn't mean I should undercut the market. Doing so not only make finding future job opportunity harder and also create much tension among other photographers who do this as a full time basis and needs the income.

To picture this, think of an artist selling his artwork in a pasar malam at RM1 a piece and another selling at RM1000 at a art gallery. The former is doing is just for sake of money and don't value his work at all. He may get lots of people buying his work since it is cheap, but who knows, his work may even end up as toilet paper. The latter definetly value his work a lot and would not settle for less. Who ever buy his work will appreciate it more and cheerish it more.

Care to comment?

Developed my last roll of b/w with my batch of chemicals at 2am in the morning. Send them for print and just got them back. Due a specification problem, the prints were on glossy paper instead of my usual matt. Wasn't very happy with it but just have to live with it. All my developing equipment and pentax ME super had been packed and stored. Come midnight tonight, I shall bid farewell to Malaysia.

To those I can't teh tarik with, sorry...especially mike and ted who had both being trying to get me out. I just couldn't find the time.

To PM..where the heck are you???

To those dear to heart , the photos would keep coming..as promised.

It's a sad and yet exciting day, a new chapter in life for me.

Sayonara!~ Don't miss too muchie ya?!

How do I write something about my experience without sounding like a boring secondary school descriptive essays? Well, I got no idea, but I still want to pen down what happened so here goes..

Going down to KT to bid farewell was initially a frightful ordeal. I got no idea what to expect or what I am going to do when I am there. Anyway, when the day came nearer, I just got fed up and wished it would just come and go faster.

Imagine that I strolled down the airport at 6am in the morning. Most of the shop was still closed. I had to fork out RM10 for a cup of hot chocolate and a burger, of which if you ask me, it can?t even be considered as a burger. It?s just two slice of bun with an unidentifiable piece of meat between it that taste like rubber.

Anyway, I shall not bore you with more details of the flight and the journey down to the kopitiam. To simply brief it, it involves a lot of sleep and talking.

As soon I got hold of the car and eating some of the delicious merchant rice (which is a direct translation of Nasi Dangang. You got to taste it to understand what it is, it is indescribable. ), I made my way by driving around KT. Within 2minutes of driving, I realize I got no specific plans and the feeling of freedom then had aptly prompted me to make an impulsive decision. I decided to drive down to Kenyir Lake. Bear in mind, I had no idea how to get there nor do I know what am I going to do there. I just felt like doing that there and then and I did it. From the road signs, I found out that the lake is located 70km away from KT town.

What did I do there when I finally reach there? Well, I just drove around and then it?s back to KT. I couldn?t do anything more there since a boat ride would cost me RM40 and I only had RM50 in my pocket at that time. So, you can say I went for a 140km 3hour joy ride alone enjoying the sceneries of the malaysian countryside. The feeling during the ride is just great. Of cause, I didn?t see any of those long stretches of paddy fields as often describe in many stories. All I saw was just seas of palm oil trees, plenty of cows and their waste products and traditional old kampong houses with a beamer or two parked in front of them.

When I reached back KT, I went out with my dad?s friend for a drink and chat. He had also brought me rounding round to get some stuff brought. On the way back, I past by this majestic old structure that looks abandoned. When I got back to the kopitiam, I immediately took the car and head over to that building I saw earlier. After enquiring around from a keropok seller about the house, I strolled into that house?s compound.

The house it turns out wasn?t abandoned and there is still people living in it. For reasons unknown to me still, I just had the urged to get some shooting done of that building and I wasn?t about to let go this opportunity. I shouted the few malay greetings I know and manage to get the attention of the inhabitants of the house. After seeking permission, I spend some time outside in the compound shooting the buildings. The prints I got from there are just great and I just love them. Although if you ask me, I still don?t know where in world had I manage to get the guts to execute such an act.

Being a city kid all my life does have its disadvantages, especially since I got a soft spot for the outdoors. One of the favourite places of mine had always been the seaside. Since I only usually come back to KT once a year, the seaside is something of a place I hardly get a chance to go. I insisted, despite the time constrain that I had, that I make a trip down to the shore. Walking down the shoreline is a feeling that?s just breath taking. Gosh, I wonder when I will be able to walk on a seaside again.

That basically sums up what I did in KT. As you can see, I left out a lot of descriptive details. I wouldn?t want to bore you, would I? Before I end here, let me list down an interesting list about what I learned during this trip.

1. Batteries always fail when you need them badly.
2. Driving behind a truck is frustrating on a road where you can?t overtake it.
3. Friendliness between people still exists.
4. Cheap good food is still possible.
5. Ask around politely and you can get away with anything.
6. Mother Nature is the greatest artist I know of.
7. With great development comes great traffic jams.
8. Being young in generation (not age) has its financial benefits.
9. Food is heavy.
10. Communication doesn?t require speaking the same language.

awesome stuff dude Fri 17-Sep-2004 19:07

Sigh..I don't usually do this but the bad weather had forced me in this. What originally suppose to be a graveyard shoot (yipee!) in the end turn into a model-cum-yamaha bikes shoot (how boring?).

Okay..okay..I admit..I was the one that bugged the guys into going to shoot. What to do? I was suffering from TDS- Trigger Deficiency Syndrom and I just had to shoot something. So, this is a treat for the guys. Look out for more juicy shots (ala butt shots) in Ted's fotopages.

Sigh...girls are boring... Give me the dead anytime..they are always a better subject to shoot than the living..

that bored? . sorry couldnt join u that day dude, was in cameron highlands, check out my fotopage... Thu 16-Sep-2004 11:51

sigh...I love my pentax ME so much I continuing using it even though it has gave me problems for 3rolls in a row. It's kind of painful to find light leak after developing your own film. The worse hit me the other day, a full roll of near empty blankness. I really got to get that darn thread fixed! Blame it on my laziness to just pull and pull the thread back thinking it would work. Anyway, here's what I manage to salvage from the roll of near blank.

Shots are from my walk around KL in the rain. Wonder is it possible for me to try and have the same mood again soon. Would love to try and shoot it again. A delta 3200 and a f1.4 50mm lens can do wonders in the rain you know. Doubt anyone would be as crazy as me to do such things.

Btw, the flower pix is from the other day at the cementery. I have been getting rather lots of negative respond regarding me saying it was boring. I guess I really have to clear it up.The cementery is a great place for model shooting and such, which Ted and the rest manage to do it quite well in fact. I went there hoping to shoot other subjects that involves the dead and Anna. Unfortunately, what I had in mind wasn't there, hence the boredom that set in pretty quickly. Blame it on my mindset of one-ness where once I made up my mind to get something, I usually won't settle for something else. Nonetheless, had a great time there. Enjoyed the company very much. We should do more of this before I fly to the land of rains.
